Question:
What choices do I have to top my f.f. and s.f. pudding with?
I have looked at all the cool whip products and they all seem to contain sugar or corn syrup. Any ideas? Thanks again for all the help — goldroses (posted on December 4, 2003)

My doc held my sugar to no more than 2 grams per serving. I use the Cool
Whip Lite (red stars on the package). It's never bothered me (started it
at 1 mo. post op) because the amt on a serving is still under the 2 gram
sugar limit.

If you dont want to do the cool whip route (what's in that stuff anyway?)
you can always make your own whipped cream (small batches of course!)and
add the sweetener of your choice. Whipped cream in a small batch that will
keep in the fridge for a few days only takes 3 to 5 minutes with a beater,
if that.

Low Fat milk will whip nicely if it is really cold. If you add a smidge of
cream of tartar it will stay whipped longer and adds no taste.

I do the Coolwhip lite too. Negligable amount of sugar if you have one
serving, and unless you use half a container!

Not only can you use Cool Whip Lite, but regular Cool Whip has the same
amount of sugar and only a small amount of fat. Most people don't know
this, but you can also use the Redi-Wip in a can....even the chocolate and
strawberry flavor all have less than 1g of sugar. Sometimes no-brand in a
can or store-brand in a can has even less fat and sugar. I go the canned
route because it lasts much longer in the fridge than Cool Whip....plus,
for a quick fix, you can stick the nozzle in you mouth for a quick squirt!
LOL....brings back childhood memories! Good luck to you!

I don't know if they still make it but there used to be a non dairy whipped
topping called Deserta or Dream Whip. It was in a blue box and usually
located the pudding and graham cracker pie crust section of the grocery.
It was very good.

get heavy cream and whip it yourself, add splenda and a little cream of
tartar or cinnamon to taste. I found that my checking out Atkins recipes
it keeps the sugar intake to a minimum. Just vary things to your taste.
