Question:
What do you think of atkins?
Is it ok to eat all the Atkins food, like the breads they have? — luckyflowers (posted on November 22, 2003)

I'm two months out (9-10) and I'm following a strict Atkiins diet. I try to
stay under 20 carbs daily, including my vitamin & calcium pills. I eat
an Atkins bar every day for additional protein, it's 2-3 net carbs. I've
bought the bake mix but haven't used it yet. I've used the ketchup and bbq
sauce. I really don't care for them much, but they're ok if you need it.
I've lost 80 pounds so far. I want to be up front however. My doctor does
not know I'm doing Atkins. I decided on my own. So I'm not recommending it
for you. I recommend you talk to your doctor about this.

I am not following Atkins, my surgeon has a very strict food guidlines for
the first year post op 70% protein and 30% veggies. No refined carbs at
all the first year (breads, pasta, potatoes, rice) We are also supposed to
keep our carbs in food under 10 per meal. I do use some Atkins products for
variety. I like the Crunchers which are like chips. They have about 4-5
carbs and something like 8 protein, I think. I just bought a baking mix
lemon poppyseed muffins but havent tried it yet and some bread that only
has 3 carbs and I think 8 protein. I consider these to be great for what I
am doing and totally within guidlines. I am 4 months out and down 85
pounds.
