Question:
Gallbladder is now full of stones. What to eat now?
OK the doc says my gallbladder is full of stones. I'm just about one year post-op. He says I should now be careful of the foods I'm eating. Says low fat and not spicy. Hey, I've already been trying to cut the fat content of my diet and not very successful at this and I love to snack on mild banana peppers. I go through at least three jars a week. Tell me what I should ideally be eating. I not having any pain after eating these types of foods. No vomitting or any other problems. — jocelyn (posted on November 21, 2003)

I would like to assume that you are going to have it taken out so this food
thing is just a temporary arrangement...right? Anyway, when I had problems
7 years ago (1/3 full of stones) they told me during the week wait until
surgery, no fat, no spicy, no roughage (which included most veggies).
What's a girl to do? I guess I would say if you eat something and it
doesn't cause you pain....then go for it. For me though, every time I
would eat anything I wasn't 'supposed to' I would feel like I was having a
major heart attact....needless to say, I learned quickly. Good luck to
you!

Before I had my gallbladder out years ago I couldn't tolerate fats at all
or milk products. They caused severe intestional problems within minutes
of eating them. Each person is different on what they can and cannot
tolerate, but there seems to be common guidelines too.

My gallbladder is full of stones now too. Its coming out Dec.3 thank
goodness. I was told to stay away from fatty foods and I do. My motto is
if it doesnt cause me pain I eat it. I have fruit and veggies everyday
with no problems but I havent been able to get milk down since surgery.
Spicy does ok but I dont push it. Good luck to you.

I had my gallbladder out years ago and my doc. told me to stay away from
cabbage, chocolate, and shell fish as these could send you into a major
attack. He did laproscopic on my, but if I had had an attack and the
gallbladder went soft he would of had to do and open. Good luck.
