Question:
Antibiotics & Percocet?
My dentist prescribed Trimox (a form of penicillin) and also Percocet for pain after oral surgery yesterday. Percocet used to knock me for a loop before gastric bypass (distal RNY) and now it is like taking a sugar pill. It did not help my pain whatsoever. I even doubled the dose which I know was dangerous but I was suffering so much and it still had zero effect. Secondly, are antibiotics OK for our pouch? Thanks, as always, — Vicki S. I have no problem w Percocet, works ok for me even post op. However, I was
told by my surgeon to take liquid antibiotics, that the pills are bad for
our pouches. That the way they disolve that we don't absorb the meds. I
take liquid Cipro.

I got bit by a spider in the spring and the doctor gave me Augmentin. They
were huge white pills so I crushed them up, boy were they discusting to
taste. I don't know why but they gave me a bad case of hives. I started
them on friday and by the time I called the doctor on monday I was a mess.
He called me in another perscription for a milder antiobotic and I had no
problem.

I am like the other poster "it works for me to" and I take two of
them a day for pain in my hip. Some times at night I take two so I will
sleep the night away and it puts me in never never land.

I (myself) can't take penicillin, but just used a course of Percocet for
foot surgery. It DID help knock the egde off, but this was about a millin
times more painful than any other surgery I've done. However, I take pills
with food (so abundance of saliva) and that helps melt them down faster. I
did take one or two with water & I did NOT get the same effect and it
took MUCH longer. So, as I continued them, I "wrapped them in
spit", so to speak. I am very distal RNY, as distal as you can get.
