Question:
Nauea at 5 wks, Okay before that
Has anyone had a problem with nausea after feeling great? I am currently almost 5 weeks post-op and nausea started about 2 weeks ago. Thank you. — carpediem (posted on November 3, 2003)

I have nausea too! I'm also going into my 5th week post-op. I find it
happens most often when I wake up in the morning. I just have a cup tea and
it calms down my tummy a tremendous amount. Good luck hope this helps!

The nausea hit me at 4 weeks out. For many of us, your pouch reacts poorly
to the ketones we produce (which are resident in our saliva and which we
swallow); unfortunately, producing ketones means we are in ketosis and
burning our own fat. Also, my stomach upset at this time was compounded
with a bad head cold; post-nasal drip has to drain somewhere! But, it does
pass (although it feels like an eternity). About the only thing that helps
(sort of anti-nausea medication) is to keep sipping as much water as
possible to flush the ketones from your pouch.
