Question:
I was told by my dietician that I need between 57-74 grams of
protein per day. I'm getting that at six weeks out. My question is do I have to get this daily amount for the rest of my life?? She figured the amount of protein by my height and weight. Well, I'm losing weight so does that mean that the amount of protein needed will go up or down with my weight loss? Thanks! Lisa — Lisa D. (posted on October 26, 2003)

Hello. Go to www.thinnerself.com. There is a calculator that will give
you your protien needs according to your height and weight. I am currently
191 and by that chart, I require a MINIMUM of 60 grams a day, 82 grams
strongly suggested. Of course, your surgeon and nutritionist are your best
guide but I find this very helpful. I try to get in at least 60-80 grams,
but I don't always make it. However, I find that the more protien I get,
the more I lose (probably because I'm eating less carbs). I'm about 5.5
months out and down 100 lbs. God bless you! Lisa A. 291/191/150
