Question:
Why does the dosage percentages on vitamins and minerals say that you get like 633%

of the daily recomended alowance.B12 and some others say this,is it because you will only absorb some of that percentage?    — natalie J. (posted on October 6, 2003)

We don't absorb B12 from food any more, true. And we wont' absorb it from a swallow pill, either. Same reason. The way we get B12 now is either through the mucous membrane of the mouth (sublingual or some liquids work) OR shot. Not sure which vites you are speaking of that deliver a huge amount of B12. But if you are swallowing it, the amount is pretty moot, since it is not going into the lower stomach, where its mate (intrinsic factor) awaits.
