Question:
Pureed foods, must EGGS be pureed??
Hi gang, I'm amost 4 wks post-op & have searched the library but couldn't find and answer. I see you can eat eggs but must they be pureed? And which is the suggested way to cook them for pureeing??? Also with canned refried beans, do you pour of that liquid before heating them? Thanks — Vicki V. (posted on September 20, 2003)

I worked as a cook in a home for disabled people when I was in my last year
of getting my dietary tech. and pureed a whole lot of eggs the best way I
found to do it is scrambled I would also add a small amount ofmilk and
protein powder. hope this helps melisa pre-op nov.3-03

They can be soft scrambled. To soft scramble, add a little water or milk to
the eggs, and heat until just done. They will be very tender You can also
add a little melted cheese for flavor. You might want to check w/ your doc
before adding cheese though. Mine told me I could. 19 weeks out, down 70

An earlier poster is right about just lightly cooking scrambled eggs. You
don't have to puree those. As for the liquid in refried beans, I remix it
into the beans to make a softer, smoother texture. This early out, you'll
want them as soft as possible. You might even want to add a little chicken
broth.

I have just mash my egg like I am making egg salad. Just add fat free
butter. Chew is very well with all your foods. you can puree it in your
mouth.I have never pureed any of my foods.Just make sure they are soft. Was
a diet clerk for a few yrs.

Pureeing eggs just doesn't even sound good! (not to mention a lot of us
just "can't" do eggs in the beginning) ... I still have a
difficult time with scrambled, but at 4 weeks out (I'm now 12 weeks out) I
WAS able to have devilled eggs ... very easy on my tummy, and tasted good
to me too! Good luck!
