Question:
7 Weeks Post Op: When Did You Start Feeling Full??
I am 7 weeks post-op and just this week I noticed that I can no longer eat as much as I had been. I finally get that full feeling after just a few bites. I am able to drink liquids without any problems. Is this when you all started feeling full?? Why do I suddenly feel full now?? — Terri G. (posted on August 4, 2003)

Tricia,
I am 3 1/2 weeks out. I had to go to a nutrition class and learned that
once you start eating more solid foods, we will feel more full than we did
eating soft or pureed foods, which makes sense. Also, Rethink drinking
while you eat. The reason that is a rule is because they don't want you to
stretch your pouch. Also, if you think of your new stoma as a funnel, when
you fill it with liquid after eating, what is that food going to do? It
will help it go on down. When you wait to drink an hour after eating, the
food will sit in your stoma longer, helping you to feel full on that food
longer. Good Luck!
