Question:
Can I Use Chlorophyll to help relieve smelly gas?
I haven't had surgery yet but some people say they experience foul smelling gas and bowel movements and bad breath post-op. Has anyone tried using Chlorophyll? Some nutrition websites are advertising this supplement as an "inner body deodorant". I was just wondering if it really works. — Kara J. (posted on August 4, 2003)

I did use Body Mints pre-op, but more for body odor than gas. It did
neuralize any other odors coming from my body... I don't specifically
remember what it did for scents coming from that area, but I think it
helped with that too.
I don't know about it post-op, since my experience was before surgery, but
for before surgery, it really DID work well. Good luck!

My doctor told me to use Devrom tablets for odor control. They are
available online. They come in a bottle of 100 for $9.45. They do help
some but nothing gets rid of it entirely. Hope this info helps you. Good
luck.

I actually got the suggestion from a surgeon that was doing a live chat on
obesityhelp.com - I did use this remedy for about 1 month then I became
pregnant and I discontinued using it due to the fact that it did cause some
constipation and hard stools (yes very GREEN) However yes it did work well
for me and just having some odor control was worth the green effect. It is
a natural product of plants so just make sure the name brand you go with
does not use any harmful fillers with it in the tablets before taking them.
After my pregnancy I will probally continue to use them again because
unfort- even at 13 months post op I have very odorus gas too with a
positive corralation to how many carbs I have been eating in meals. Good
Luck
