Question:
I am 8 months post op (10/21/02) and I have no idea what to eat...

I also have no idea HOW MUCH I should be eating. I like meat and it sits well with me but I have started eating carbs again, specifically macaroni, even though they bother me...I guess that I am bored with what I am eating and I need to know HOW MUCH. Can anyone help me???    — Jessica D (posted on June 30, 2003)

are you wanting to know how many carbs you can eat (even though they bother you)? Or how much protein you should be getting or just plain out how much to eat period? As for the carbs, lots of them are fine but make good choices. Good veggies (broccoli, cabbage, salad fixin's, and such) are good choices, as are whole grain products (limitedly). Macaroni is a waste of pouch space and robs you of space for other good things, but then you know that :>) You should be eating what makes YOU comfortable and there in lies the demon for us all. How much. I eat 4 ounces of moz cheese most every morning for breakfast. Sure somedays I feel like I could eat a bit more, but I'm satisfied so why pack in more. If my tummy still grumbled or I didn't feel satisfied, I'd probably eat another stick or something else with it. I eat 4 to 6 times a day about 4 to 8 ounces of food each time (except veggies - love veggies cause I CAN enjoy mouthing more food :>). I know, this probably wasn't much help, but I hate to see you eating noodles when even you admit they aren't great to eat. Please, now is the time to make good choices as you find you can eat more. Good food doesn't have to be boring! Have you tried stir-fry?

I don't worry about how MUCH, just WHAT I eat. Protein first, then veggies. Maybe some fruit and whole grains. Pasta is made w/ white flour, and in terms of how much white flour or white sugar we should have, I'd say NONE except for very special occasions. I know not everyone agrees, but for some of us, this is the only thing that gets us to and keeps us at goal.

Jessica, you're not alone, and I almost feel like I'm going into slight depression about this plateau I've been trying to come off of...It's not only boring, but makes me not even want to eat now... *sigh*
