Question:
of how I will change after my surgery.
Has anyone done this? I have 3 wks until surgery and wanted to give my family and friends(coworkers) an email or printout of how I will be after the surgery, what I can eat, what I can't. How long it will take for me to feel up to going out ect. Has anyone done this? — WendieS (posted on June 20, 2003)

I haven't heard of this personally, but with my personality I'd probably do
it now that I heard of it - as a joke somewhat. You could do a "Do's
and Dont's for Wendie" with little graphics and such - DO: Eat 1
ounce at a time, no water 30 minutes before or after, for the first 6
weeks. DO NOT: Make the one ounce be anything produced by the Hershey
company. DO: Drink xx ounces of fluid, slowly, throughout the day. DO
NOT: Include Johnny Walker Red in your bottle.
The only reservation I'd have about giving non-family members this printout
is that it will look like you have so many restrictions that they may
discourage you from going ahead with this.

I wouldn't recommend doing that. You may be sorry. Do you really want
everyone to know every little thing about you? Also, other people aren't
as obsessed about it as we are. In fact they don't think about it much at
all!! Funny, huh? It's ALL we think about. I think some people
(co-workers) might take "it" the wrong way.

I never thought about that, but I think even if you do it, they will still
ask you the same questions over and over:o)9mo later and I feel like a
broken record! Good luck!

What an awesome idea!! I'd go for it! Especially if you are relatively
close to your co-workers. My husband sent an email to his co-workers so
they would understand, and even in a stand-offish job, people tend to
support you more if you let them know what is going on, AND you don't go on
and on and on and on and on and on... get the drift? :~)

Ruth,
I had to ask the date of your surgery? I am going in on July 10th. Maybe
we can chat along the way and be a support to one another. Read my profile
and write if you feel.
