Question:
i'm having trouble getting in all my calcium. Can I take ny calcium with my coffee?
I know I can't take my iron and multi with my coffee, but what about my calcium citrate? I'm trying to get in 4 capsules a day, along with 2 doses of iron, multi's and b12..I'm having a hard time spacing it all out properly. I'd like to be able to start taking my calcium first thing in the morning with my coffee. Any idea's on absorption with caffine? Thanks! — Goodgirl (posted on June 18, 2003)

Just to make it even more fun, you can't take your IRON with your CALCIUM.
LOL! This is what I do: I take my multivitamin (one), my B1 (I have a
deficiency...not everyone needs to take B1), and 2 other prescription meds.
in the morning. No calcium yet because my multi has iron in it. About 3
hours later I take one 500 mg. Calcium/Vit.D/magnesium. Then I take my two
remaining 500 mg. calciums approximately at 3 hour intervals. I take other
prescription meds at night, as I've always done. I take one sub-lingual
B12 twice a week, which I take before I ingest anything (while making my
breakfast). It's true; caffeine helps wash calcium out of our bodies, so
it's best not to take it with coffee. Maybe you should find a tasty decaf
that you can stand. I certainly think you are smart to be concerned about
this. Hugs, Joy

I actually use about 1/3 cup non-fat dry milk in my coffee....8grm
proteirn, 80 cal, and 30% dily calcium.....and it makes the coffee nice and
creamy...
