Question:
Taco Bell

Has anyone tried Taco Bell Chicken Quesadillas? Any bad reactions?    — Karen W. (posted on June 1, 2003)

I have tried the chicken quesadilla's and they are good. Of course, be prepared to take half or more home with you for another meal! Actually, the beans and chicken soft taco are a WLS patients perfect meal, with a little to spare.

I did well with the quesadillas too, not even 2 months out. Good luck!

I generally avoid Taco Bell even though it's a family favorite but the weird thing is that if I'm having a bad food day, meaning that everything is sticking or giving me fits, I can usually eat a TB Taco Supreme or Chicken Quesadilla. I find this strange but it's true.

I cheat and scrape the guts off of two 1/4 and put it inside the other two 1/4's - no trouble. Love them...just chew well!

I haven't had any trouble with the Chicken Quesadillas but, even at a little over a year out, I can barely eat 1/3 of one. Occassionally, if I'm really starving and can make myself eat slowly enough I can eat nearly 1/2 of one but never a bite more. If there is a lot of filling I can't eat more than 1/3. The Pintos & Cheese is pretty good. I can finally eat nearly a whole serving of it - but not quite.

I love the quesadillas from Taco Bell - both chicken and steak. I usually can eat about half one - and I'm 18 months post -op. Sometimes, I can eat 3/4 of one.

Much of eating post-op is trial and error. Some things work, some don't, and often for no apparent reasons. So you'll just have to try it yourself to see if you can handle it. If you can handle chicken and cheese, I'm sure you will be fine. But there is alot of bread, so be careful. Goodluck to you

When I was early post op, I had these without problems. I would, however, ask them to grill them until they were crispy. The doughy shell was not very appealing. I love the shell extra crispy. Just a tip. Shelley

I eat Taco Bell a few times a week, but I only eat the pinto n cheese with x-tra cheese(Mmmm just sounds fattening lol). That is all my tummy can handle now. I have tried bites of all my past favorites, but I get sick.

I can eat this fine. I agree w/previous posters--the crispier the shell, the better. If you find that you can't tolerate the shell (oddly enough Taco Bell's tortillas are the only ones that stay down?), then just eat the inside of it (I only ate the inside early on). This will probably last you for a meal or two--I still only eat about half of this.
