Question:
I'm worried about my progress
I'm getting a little worried about my progress. On the 6th of May I was 4mo post-op,and I am down to 213.5 I started at 279(65.5 lbs) but last month and this month have been slow losing months. For the month of Apr. I only lost eight pounds and though I had a 3.5lb loss at the beginning of this month I gained it back in one day and I.m slowly losing that. I'm worried it is what I am eating and if I need to change what I am eating I will do it now. I go to the gym 3 times a week and lift weights and walk on the treadmill and get at least 50 0z. of water a day and I feel and look fantastic, as a matter of fact I'm very happy with my appearance but just worried about the weight fluctuation. I know not to weigh every day but I feel like it keeps me on track. But, I tolerate everything I eat and I don't skimp on cheese or salad dressing. My normal daily menue looks like this: A large cup of decaf cofee with a tblsp. of SF cocao, two equals and a tbsp. of half and half, first thing in the morning. my Pro-complex protein shake before I go to work. For lunch I sometimes get a 6in.Subway tuna sandwich,I take off one of the breads and order it with mayo, must, cheese, onions and olives, I can only finish 2/3 of it and I eat about half a pkg. of baked lays, this takes about 1/2 an hour. If my kids have a baseball game I get a small pkg. of sunflower seeds, if not I might have a hand full of nuts, for dinner I have something like 3/4 of one enchilada and a tbls or two of beans. Plus my 50 oz. of crystal light. Will I be able to get to my goal weight doing this or am I not using my tool effectively ? I still eat alot less than I used to. — Jennifer T. Well, you are doing better than I. On the 19th of May I will be three
months post op, and I am down only 45lbs. I started out at 5' 6.5" and
277lbs. I dont get sick either and can eat a good bit.

Im about 7 months postp. One thing I wold do is get even more protein.
Try eating food for breakfast....egg with cheese, rolled up ham and
cheese..maybe wih mustard. Cheese sticks, cottage cheese. Leftover meat
from last nights dinner ect. I would skip the mayo and fatty
dressings....save those for 1 or 2x week. I would add a protein shake or
bar instead of the seeds and peanuts (more protein and less fat in the good
ones). At dinner I would make sure to get lots of protein even if you had
to skip the tortilla wrapper for a while...that will cut carbs too. You are
not doing bad and your weight loss is fine..I would just cut fat and carbs
some and up the protein. I am proud of you for working hard....you should
be proud of yourself as well!!!!!!!!!! Gods Blessings........Terri

Jennifer, I wouldn't worry, you are doing well. Weight losses fluctuate
from month to month and you have to expect it to slow down. On a good
note, for those that lose slow, its usually slow but steady and we still
get there, just not as fast as others who drop quicker. As for your diet,
if you wanted to, you could trim some carbs. I'm sure you don't eat the
same things every day but just in the menu you listed, you could cut the
mayo from the sandwich (tunafish already has mayo in it),or perhaps
substitute deli meats instead of the tuna (higher in protein, less fat),
and for dinner have a grilled meat/fish/poultry with a veggie instead of
the enchilada. Nothing wrong with the enchilada, as long as your not
having it every night. As for snacks, nuts are fine, or a protein bar or
even some fruit. Keep up the good work, your doing great!

I don't care about the fats or chips, they're not as much your enemy as
they were. UNless you're making your PC with milk, I don't even see many
sugars in your day. These would be my recommendations, just to polish off
your stupendous job so far. Put ANOTHER PC first. First before cofee,
before anything else. Then your coffee, if you must. And your half lunch,
make that 15 min of eting, and 15 min of reading or something else
relaxing. Not half hour of eting--that's grazing. Save your other half for
later (at least 2 hours). While you're running around & sitting at
ball games, put down a bottle or two of naked water. You COULD add another
PC after dinner, to relax by. Add some PB or berries, some ice--make it
nice & pretty.

My only suggestion would be to increase the protein and water. You need 64
oz of water a day at the very least.

We're all different, but one thing I found for me...I can't drink that much
Crystal Light. The artificial sweetner stimulates my appetite, causes me
to retain fluids, and slows my weight loss. I would suggest you only drink
Crystal Light AFTER you have your 64 oz. of actual water. If you have a
problem with water, like me, drink bottled or filtered. I have to have
mine over ice and drink it with a straw. Your really doing well, so just
keep up the focus and you'll be on track. Good luck and God Bless.
