Question:
6 Months Post Op, Need Input on Nutritional Guidelines
Need some input on Nutrional Guidelines at 6 months post op. Total calories, % Protein, % Fat, % Carbs. I track on Fitday.com, but don't know where I should be. Thanks to all for your great input to this and all questions posted! — Laura B. (posted on March 24, 2003)

If I recall, its about 800-1000 calories a day by 6 months. I never really
counted protein, just ensured that it was the prime focus of all
meals-probably about 60-75 grams a day or more. As for carbs and fats,
there are good carbs (complex ones like beans, veggies, fruit, whole grain
products) that are good and then there are the bad ones (white, simple
carbs like cookies, candy, cakes, white breads/rolls, white rice). Some
people on here will tell you to stay away from all carbs, even the good
ones, but I don't believe in that. My nutritionist believes in well
balanced diets which include mostly protein and some carbs and fats. We
malabsorb fats so I never counted fats at all, don't count carbs, but try
to minimize the bad ones. Must be working as I am 7 pounds from goal.
