Have you called your surgeon for diet suggestions with WLS?

What kind of stones? Oxalate stones? Or uric acid? I know nothing about
uric acid, but unfortunately have meet oxalates up close and personal to
omany times. Sigh. Oxalates: avoid anythign like Tums, calcium carbonate,
spinach, kale (other dark green leafies), coffee, tea & cola (caf or
decaf), and some docs also say nuts, seeds & legumes. If you turned
another page, you'd see that the food listed are also the highest sources
of calcium avaialble. (not dairy--that's at the bottom of the list)
That's the stuff from the sheet my uro gave me. AND she wanted us to swtich
to calciuim citrate, as treatment for oxalate stones back many eyars ago.
Did I listen? I got my stone for Christmas. My husband got his for
Valentine's day. I'd kinda rather we didn't get them at all, of course.

I am a kidney stone veteran, I have had so many when I was a preop that I
have lost count, I have had lithotripsy twice , stents in my ureters for
months on end. I have had 3 stones post op (almost 6 months) My urologists
recommendation, water water water!!! drink til your pee is clear. at LEAST
2 -3 quarts daily. and talk to Dr. regarding the type of stone, has he
checked a 24 hour urine to see if you have high calcium or uric acid in
your urine? I actually am prescribed a medication by my urologist that
lowers my uric acid levels, apparently high uric acid levels also promote
the formation of calcium oxylate stones. no matter the type of stones think
WATER!
