Question:
How much can I expect to lost with tummy tuck?
I am almost 10 months post-op. I've gone from 241 to 136 pounds. How much did you lost with your abdominoplasty? I was just wondering how much I could expect to lose (forgot to ask dr.!)? — L. F. (posted on February 5, 2003)

Hi and congratulations on your success!
At 10 months you may have more to go but ask your WLS doctor about that.
Assuming your weight is stable, a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty might be
next for you...it really depends on how much fat and skin were/are on your
abdomen. On average, most paients lose 3-7 inches in their abdominal girth.
This skin and fat may only weigh a few pounds, but it's removal makes a
huge difference in your overall shape, and especially your ability to wear
clothes that fit properly. Hope this helps.

I was 248 at the time of my RNY. I was 140 on the day of my tt. The day
after my tt I GAINED 5 pounds!! However, that was just fluid from the
surgery. I ended up losing 5 pounds of skin and fat from my tt and
liposuction on my arms.

My doctor removed about 4 1/2 pounds during surgery, and I lost weight
during the recover for a total of about 10 pounds in two weeks. It was
quite a shock when I weighed at two weeks out. I did a little happy dance!
But the difference in my appearance was far greater than a ten pound loss.
I have always envied women with a flat tummy, never had one until now.
