Question:
What protein powder is best?
I'm scheduled for LAP RNY on 1/10/03, and am still trying to figure out if there is a protein powder that can just be mixed into food. If there is such a thing, and there are 10,000 posts about it already, I'm sorry :), but I haven't been able to find anything about a protein POWDER. One that is tasteless and mixes well would be great! Thanks! — SuzAnne S. (posted on December 5, 2002)

Hi! I'm the original poster. Never mind answering this! About 10 minutes
after I posted it, I found the tons of links for protein powder. Yes, it
was right there in front of me LOL. I WOULD greatly appreciate feedback
though as to what you think the best protein powder source is. I want to
do my very best to get all the protein I'll need after surgery. Thanks!!!

I didn't like the tasteless. I like Real Meals it tastes good and not only
has the protein but everything else I need too. As soon as I started
taking it my hair stopped coming out, energy soared, and I stopped having
plateaus. Go to www.protein-solution.com They have a great chart that
compares all of the most popular protein products.

The best protein powder is the one you will use! All joking aside, it
doesn't do you any good sitting in your cabinet. I had a bunch of those.
The only one I was able to use consistently was the MLO milk & egg
protein powder. It is unsweetened and pretty tasteless (kind of like melted
ice cream without the sweetness). I mixed it in lots of things. I think you
can cook with it, too. I have also heard good things about ProCel, but
haven't tried it. Don't buy a bunch preop because your tastes might change
and then you'll end up like me with a cabinet full of stuff you can't
stand! :P

The best one IS the one you will use. The last poster had that exactly
right. What one person loves, another will not be able to tolerate.
Having said that, I will say that I have used ProCel and just mixed it into
Crystal Light. It doesn't change the flavor although it does change the
texture a tiny bit. I no longer use any protein supps because I am able to
get enough protein in food.
