Question:
Are these dumping symptoms normal?
A few nights ago I decided to treat myself. I generally do not dump on small amounts of sugar. I had about 1/8 cup of Ben & Jerry's Coffee Heath Bar Crunch. I know...not a healthy food choice. A few minutes later I was brushing my teeth at the sink, I started shaking, my heart was racing like crazy, I couldn't breathe and I got really dizzy and everything went black. 3 hours later I woke up on the bathroom floor. I passed out. Is this dumping? Should I be really concerned and tell my doctor about this? Thanks. Angie B. Lap RNY 3/6/2002 -99lbs (-147lbs total) — Angie B. (posted on September 25, 2002)

You should probably call you doctor just to be safe. What you described
could be considered severe dumping. Dumping is when your sugar drops really
low really fast. It can make you pass out. I have noticed when I am dumping
somtimes my heart races also. Just watch the sugar intake. Maybe you should
try a NSA ice cream. There are some good ones out there. I like Blue Bunny.
HTH.

Dumping does not cause you to be unconcious for three hours. Call your
doctor immediately.
