Question:
How do we manage a large amount of prescription drugs afterwards?
I was involved in a near-fatal car accident and must take approx 20 pills per day. I also drink a mixture of Certo and grape juice 3 times daily in order to rebuild cartlidge in my knees. I have checked with the pharmacist and she can only obtain one of the medications in a liquid form. How will I do this? Has anyone else had this problem? — Susan C. (posted on September 18, 2002)

I am on 7 different medications due to a chronic illness, and other things,
so including vitamins, I take about 25 pills a day. My little pouch handles
it fine. I was surprised, it actually handled it fine since the day after
surgery! I couldn't believe it!!! It may take you some time to adjust, but
eventually you will probably be ok taking the medications! goodluck and be
well :)

I am able to take all my meds comfortably except 2. The pills are just too
large and burn my stomach if I crush them up. Be careful though, make sure
the liquids you are getting aren't loaded with sugar. Sometimes the
liquids have a sugar base.

Hi... I have been taking meds all along with no problem. Remembering all
of them had been my dilemma. So... I have a 4x6 size pill box with
days/time of days of week on them. I take all of my vitamins but calcium
& mag. in AM just when I wake up. Then I do my protein & banana on
way to work. Late AM I do the Calcium & Mag (I use a liquid); Late
Afternoon I do calcium/mag again to get in 1200mg a day total; then have
dinner. At bedtime I do all of my meds. You need to watch mixing your
vitamins and presc. as some will counteract each other and take the
calc/mag separately as iron will cause it to not absorb. I would not take
meds on a totally empty stomach. When I take mine, that is my nighttime
snack of fruit, a couple of pretzels, a little cheese or something like
that. My best to you.
