Question:
Is eating twice within the 30 minute meal period cheating?
Hi, I am just over 2 months post op, and was curious .. I am only able to get 5-6 bites of solid food in, before I feel full. After 15 minutes though, I am able to eat 3-4 more bites. Is this considered "cheating"? — Dawn M. (posted on August 20, 2002)

I would not think so. It is supposted to take 30 minutes to eat. Just as
long as you don't eat more than you are allowed.I do the same thing. If I
didn't I would not get in my 60 cc of food.I hope this helps.

That depends... are you still feeling satisfied when you eat that second
time? If so.. then yes I would say you are cheating yourself and still
letting you head controll your hunger. If you are still truely hungry then
I would say no.

It sounds like you are 'beating the pouch'. You should listen to what your
body tells you. If you are full or reach satiety after the first eating,
then that is your meal. Why would you eat again so soon after that? Just
because you can is not a good reason. This is what they instruct
underweight patients to do to beat the pouch, and therefore gain weight. I
wouldn't do that. Read 'pouch rules for dummies'. I believe that it is
mentioned in the rules.

Maybe you should try cutting your bites in half, chew more and wait 1
minute between bites. You may be able to eat your total meal in 1/2 hour.
This way you will not be cheating and you will be traing yourself for when
you are eating normally at goal. Good Lux
