Question:
Is fruit okay to eat post-op RNY?
I am 3 months post-op RNY. If it were up to me I would eat watermelon, cantoloup(SP) all day. Is it okay to eat just fruit for example for lunch? I know to stay away from oranges & things with a "skin" on it because it could get stuck. I know they tell you protein, protein, protein but fruit is nice every once in a while & I seem to tolerate it okay. Just wondering with the all natural sugars in fruits & all if it was okay to eat? Thanks! — Allison T. (posted on July 18, 2002)

Fruits and salds are my main food now. I still try and get in my protein
everday too I take a supplement to make sure I have enough.

Personally I've NEVER dumped on fruits. But we are all different.

Allison, you can have any fruit you want but like you said dont eat
anything with skin. I also had the RNY an I couldnt tolerate canteloupe due
to having alot of gas with it. Nor melon of any kind but watermelon
seedless agrees with me, just be carefull on the amount you consume. Hope
this helps.
