Question:
Questions on protein bars!

First I'm having a hard time finding one that is low in sugar and low in carbs that taste half way decent. I find that I get full on the bars quickly. So, it seems that it takes me all day to eat them by just nibbling on them all day. That is kind of hard for me with my work schedule. Does anyone find this to be the case? If so how do you eat & finish them. Also do you use the protein bars as a meal or just have them as a snack? I'm a little confused on that. Any suggestions on bars that you like? Thanks!    — Allison T. (posted on July 10, 2002)

Try the Atkins advantage Mocha Crunch bar, especially if you're a coffee fan. I think it's the best tasting one by far. My Mom loves them too. I also like the frosted cinnamon swirl by Atkins for a change from chocolate. They do have carbs, (10 of those carb grams are from fiber though, which is good), but they're very low in sugar carbs and won't send your blood sugar levels up, or make you dump. I eat part of one (1/2 to 3/4) for breakfast, and part of one (1/2) for afternoon snack. They are higher in fat than some of the others though, but for me it's worth it.

Try "Pure Protein." They're the only decent tasting ones on the market! LOL

I have some that I like listed on my profile. They run the entire range from carb-free to 15 grams of sugar. I just picked the best tasting ones I found. If you can't eat a whole bar, just eat 1/2 at a time. You could have 1/2 mid morning and the other 1/2 mid afternoon, for example. Some of those bars are pretty dense and would fill you up fast. Some of my favorites are the ones that have a more rice-krispie treat texture. I consider all six of my eating times "meals" and I eat according to my hunger level and what I feel like eating at the time. I am just as likely to heat up a microwave meal at 9:30 in the morning as at 12:00 noon. Maybe that is from spending so many years on swing shift, I dunno. LOL

Try Balance Gold. I like Rocky Road. It has 14 grams of carbs and 15 grams of protein. The first one wasn't so great, but now they actually taste kinda good. I know they sell them at Wal-Mart. i have tried a lot and that's the best. I also use them as a meal replacement. However, I only eat 3 meals a day and have a snack at night. I don't know what your regime is supposed to be. Protein bars and drinks are they only reason I stll have any hair at all.--Good luck!

The Designer Whey Peanut BetterBody bar is excellent. It's almost like eating a snickers bar!!!
