Question:
I am still hungry How much food does it take to get the full feeling?
11 days Post-op and there are times that I am still hungry. I do not get the full feeling. I am eating only liquids. Could I have stretched my new stomach already? — Tammy S. (posted on June 1, 2002)

it takes a while before your new stomach can send signals that it is full.
It is still swollen. so you must feed it only what your doctor tells
you...try to stick with less that 2 ounces at a time and eventually you
will start feeling the fullness.

I will be one month post-op on Friday, and at first I wondered the same
thing. Here's what I've learned: you will not (probably) ever feel full
on liquids--they run straight through you. You may not even feel very
full, if full at all, on soft foods. I'm still eating soft foods, and I
really haven't felt full yet. I'm assuming that once I eat some solid food
with some substance, I will experience fullness. Don't worry--you're doing
just fine. Good luck!

Hi there! I'm five weeks post-op and I am finally to the point where an
ounce or two gives me that stuffed feeling. The first few weeks your tummy
is still swollen and probably literally has a larger capacity. You will
notice a big difference when you start eating solids. I was already eating
solids by your time out and it really helped with energy levels and that
full feelings. -30 pounds!
