Question:
Has anyone used Hydroxycut post-op RNY & does it work?
I just got a magazine from GNC that has an adversisement for Hydroxycut to aid with weightloss. I was just wondering if anyone had used it post-op RNY & if it had helped them with weightloss? Is it safe to use? Are there any ingredients in there such as caffeine that could harm you? Thanks! — Allison T. (posted on May 30, 2002)

I too would like some input on this question- I have a friend who uses the
hydroxycut and it states it gives great muscle tone which is what I am most
interested in...however, after reading the bottle....it does have efedriene
(sp?) - and you have to take a bunch of pills if you use it according to
the directions on the bottle - any input would be great.....

Hi
i was at pharmacy today when someone actually asked if they carried
it!!!!!!! It is NOT a safe thing to use due to the
ephedrine.....ephedrine is the nasty diet pill drug that causes strokes
heart problems personality changes and addiction beware of anything
containing ephedrine in it hope this sheds some light

Allison: There's no doubt about it. Hydroxycut WORKS. I have a friend who
lost 100 lbs. "the hard way" using Hydroxycut. Unfortunately, he
is now totally dependent upon this drug to maintain his weight ... and the
Hydroxycut keeps him on a constant buzz. It's like talking to someone who
just consumed five cups of coffee. He seems nervous and anxious a lot and
has expressed that he has to take sleeping pills to sleep. Hydroxycut
contains caffeine and ephedrine. It dramatically raises your blood
pressure, which is why it also contains aspirin (so you don't die of a
heart attack). My opinion: It may work, but it's not worth it! And
especially now, since your "plumbing" has been altered and the
drug has not been tested on post-WLS patients.
