Question:
I am a new post-op..still on puree stage of diet...I don't know what to eat?
I know this is crazy but I am 3 weeks post-op RNY. Currently on the puree stage of the diet. I have no idea what to eat. It's been so long since I had to watch when & what to eat I don't know where to turn. Can anyone tell me what an average day consists of as far as eating? Both on the puree stage and on the "normal food" stage. I get bored with food real easily. Any websites out there or cookbooks to help with meal planning for WLS patients? — Allison T. Hi--I am 9 days post-op and I eat high protein foods like pureed chicken,
mashed potatoes with cheese, sf/ff pudding, bean soup, lobster bisque as a
treat, all natural baby food (the health food store type), Crystal Lite,
tons of water, unsweetened applesauce with Proteinex, black beans, and
Malt-O-Meal! I am staying away from most fruits as the sugar makes me
slightly nausious (sp?). I measure everything I eat and drink and I take
my time. I wait 10 minutes in-between each one-oz of food and drink, of
course not together! So far so good for me! Here is my typical food
schedule: a.m. 2-3 oz Malt-o-Meal with milk & water, 1-2 oz applesauce
with Proteinex, late a.m. protein shake, lunch: 2-4 oz protein and 2-3 oz
vegetable, late afternoon: protein shake, dinner: 3-4 oz protein, 2-3 oz
vegetable, 2 oz pudding if I have it, evening: protein shake--inbetween I
have my water and Ctystal Lite (my new best friend). Walk, walk, walk!!!!!

One thing that really helped me all these months? Homemade chicken broth. I
add it to my chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, meats that may be too
dry I cook with it! Now I am 10 months out and -156 lbs. I could not have
done this without my chicken soup! Boil a chicken, peel & quarter a
sweet onion, peel and slice some carrots and celery, add 2 bay leafs, 1/2
tsp. white pepper, 5 chicken bouillon cubes. Boil for several hours. Remove
& bone the chicken into a separate dish. The next day, remove the layer
of fat from the top of the broth & throw the fat away. Store in small
containers for future use and fill a few ice cube trays, then freeze in
baggies to add to veggies and cooking with.

I ate alot of Ricotta cheese and Hummus during my pureed
phase. Also, used smashed refried beans and melted cheese
on them... yummy!
Good luck!

One of the things I had on pureed stage was refried beans with a little
chedder cheese soup and taco sauce. Oh I loved it, and did great with it.
Also had pureed chili, cream chicken soup on mashed potatoes. Pureed
vegetable soup. Cottage cheese. Sugar free frozen yogurt. Sugar free
puddings.
If you can puree it, you can eat it (well at least within reason)
