Question:
How much can I expect to lose with a tummy tuck and breast reduction?
I am 10 months post-op (open RNY) I'm 5'7", started out at 298, currently 194. I'm thinking about getting a panniculectomy or abdominoplasty and breast reduction when I get to goal of 147. At what weight should I start looking into this? — Becky H. (posted on April 22, 2002)

When I had my breast reduction I weighed exactly 5 lbs less and I had 2.5
lbs removed from each breast. So, I lost exactly the same amount that they
removed.

I had six pounds removed when I had my panniculectomy. I am having a
breast reduction in June. It depends on how big you are when you go in. I
know another woman who had the same surgery I did and had twelve pounds
removed.

You want to have the surgery when you are within 20 pounds of your goal
weight. As far as the amount of weight you'l lose, the plastic surgeon
should be able to give you some kind of idea on that. I plan on having an
armlift and abdominoplasty with liposuction on my hips, thighs and butt to
make the lower half of my body more proportioned. So I'll not only lose
skin but fat. My surgeon figured I'd lose about 10 to 15 pounds of skin
and fat.
