Question:
Can you take Anaprox after WLS
I am considering WLS and was wondering if you can take anaprox for period cramps. In not, what can you take works great like Anaprox. — Chrissy W. (posted on April 3, 2002)

You should contact your surgeon with this question, but when I asked mine
he said yes...if...you aren't taking it more than 2 days a month. He also
cautioned me to break it up. I found that when I took it, it just didn't
work as well as it had in the past. It may be that my cramps were worse
because my periods were really wacky for the first several months. I'm
wondering if I didn't absorb it as well. Pleas ask you surgeon if it is ok
for the surgery that you had before you take it.

I was prescribed Anaprox by my OB/GYN for very painful cramps before
surgery. After surgery, even when I was told no NSAIDS, I was stubborn and
decided to try anyway. I have horrible cramping and blood clot problems
with my periods. I took the Anaprox with a Prilosec and with food, and
within twenty minutes it felt like someone had dropped a bomb in my
stomach. My advice is to follow what your doc says and be very careful.

no. anaprox is a nsaid-nonseriodiol anti-imflamatory. my doctor advised to
stay away from all anti-imflamtories because of the high risk of ulcers

hi...After my WLS 1/13/00 I started experiencing extreme period cramps like
never before...probably because when I was morbidly obese I got my period
maybe 3 times a year. Right after surgery I got it every 3 weeks...YUCK!. I
told my OBGYN I could not take ibuprofen because of my stomach so he
prescribed Tylenol with Codeine and its been working fine for me.
