Question:
I am 5 months post op and am needing a breast reduction
Is this to soon? I had Lap RNY in August and am down 90 lbs. I can't handle the back pain any longer. The more weight I lose the more "top heavy" I become. I am currently a 42 DDD. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks! — [Anonymous] (posted on January 21, 2002)

it is too soon to consider a reduction. You will probably still lose in
the breast it just may take time

Invest in a good bra. I use a Lane Bryant bra that I can only order from
the catalog. You may spend 25.00, but it may offer some relief.

I would wait. I definitely did NOT lose any up there until about 7 mos. It
would be a shame to go through all that pain and then have saggy boobs when
you could wait a little while longer and have nice-looking ones!

I checked out reduction in about the 8th month. The plastic surgeon had
worked with "us" for years and told me NO WAY, as I would end up
a AA when it was completely done. Just hang in there til you are
stabilized. See what you've got left and consider your options then. I've
known several people who had reductions while heavy, then had to have some
"help" reinstalled when they reached normal body wt. Ow.

Back in 1991 when I had the VBG....I lost 170 pounds, but my breast still
remained large!!!! I was at 200 pounds when I had my reduction. Doc told
me that I would most likely want to have further skin removed if I were to
lose 50 to 60 more pounds.... So it depends on you.. I know the back pain
issue and if anyone else out there offers advice to you on this issue I
sure hope they have experienced the back pain.. it is debilitating!!! Good
luck to you....
