Question:
I think the secret to fast weight loss is the protein.
Is this true? From what I can't figure out if you should eat No carb or lots more protein in addition to a some carb. — Wendy M. (posted on January 8, 2002)

Hi Wendy, I also beleive that protein is the key. I was on a plateau and
upped my protein from 50 grams to 80 and have dropped many many inches in
the last few weeks. I don't totally eliminate carbs though, I just make
sure the ones I do eat aren't empty calories, like junk. I eat chex mix
here and there, and have veggies, and sometimes some fruit. I try to
balance what I do, just making sure that the protein is first.

Absolutely!!!! Protein is the way to go. I had open RNY 8-1-01 and have
lost 87lbs forever so far. I am on a plateau this month, but have not lost
any hair so far. I eat almost exclusively protein, with veggies added twice
weekely. I also have a multi-vit daily and excercise daily. I do not
count calories nor fat because I eat only 300-600 calories daily per my MD.
Protein has saved my life, and will continue to be a big part of my diet
for ever. Who can say they are deprived with shrimp and fish??
