Question:
Are California rolls ok?

I actually have two questions, 1) I'm totally craving California rolls and sushi, is this ok? and 2) When did people start losing their hair? I'm 3 mos post op from a Lap VBG and I feel like my hair is coming out really fast and is feeling thin. I've lost 45 lbs so far. Thanks for your answers! Amy    — Amy E. I eat the Ca rolls with my RNY. Normally rice is kinda iffy for me, but for some reason, in this presentation, it works just FINE.

I ate California Rolls just fine also. Now instead of eating 6-8, I can may be eat 2. I am 9 mos. post op and down 100 pounds. It took me several months before I could eat pasta or rice, but now it is ok. I have been very lucky because I am able to eat anything. I started losing my hair in clumps as well around the same time as you, however, it does taper off. I would say maybe 6 wks then it gradually stopped. Good Luck

I go for sushi regularly... I have since I was about a month and a half post op... now I am 5 months post op. I dont eat rolls anymore... or I should say the whole roll... because I cant seem to chew up the seaweed part of the roll (Nori)... it gets a bit chewy as it sits after it is made. So I pull the piece of Nori out. and eat the rest. I order sashimi which is the fish without rice... or order a hand roll 'lite on the rice' and nibble it until the Nori gets chewy then unroll it and pick at it with my chopsticks. Another thing is to ask for the california roll to be cut in 12 pieces instead of the usual 6... my sushi chef now puts a little nori band around my sushi and cuts it in half for me... then I pinch off a little of the rice from underneath.
