What affect, if any does B-12 injections have on our metabolism?

Do B-12 injections have any affect on our metabolism? I know it has something to do with being a help for those who may be deficient and fatigued, but I was wondering if it was true that it "speeds up" the metabolism. Thanks in advance for your reply.
