Wondering why I am not supposed to drink tea?

I am 13 mnths post-op and had previously been drinking water and milk. Then I tried some hot tea and I loved it, if I thrown up and couldn't eat anything, tea would setel my stomach. Then I read on one of the Q&A that you should not drink hot tea. I was wondering why I am not supposed to drink tea.
