What is a liquid sweetener?

Hello, I have a question which I feel I should know the answer too, but I don't. I'm 5 wks post op and have been researching recipies that call for a liquid sweetener. What are liquid sweeteners that we can have? I've used powdered Equal and Splenda and love both. Thank you so much for any help you have to offer.
