Does anyone know if post-ops should take Phospho-soda?

It is a type of liquid laxative made by Fleet. My sister (9 mos. post-op) is scheduled for a procedure tomorrow where they are checking her bladder, kidneys and bowel and 45 cc of phospho-soda has been ordered. We have a call into her surgeon about this, but any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
