Dr. considering removing my old stomach....

I'm 1 1/2 years post op (down 160 and have reached my goal!!!). In Oct 2002 my dr. found that a fistula (tube) had formed linking my old stomach to my pouch. I had revision surger to re-staple my pouch. My doc said that if I had anymore problems he'd consider removing my old stomach. I'm still having a lot of pain that is probably caused by acid and bile from my old stomach. Has anyone ever had their old stomach removed? What are the risks/side affects? Any help would be appreciated as I'm really scared....
