Does vitamin E have to be taken a specific way?

I saw a posting that said Vitamin E could not be taken in a gel cap. What other ways are there to take Vitamin E? Also, ongoing before surgery I also took garlic, COQ10, aspirin, and niaspan. Is there a specific way I have to take these supplements? Is this true for all supplements in the future like vitamin C? Kinda confused and would appreciate getting "straightened out". Thanks.
