abdominal hernia pain

I have an abdominal hernia, my question is,, every few days I have such excruciating pain under my ribs and around my back,, it feels like a band wrapped around me,, really painful,, Its hard to breath during it, and also my face pours sweat during it,, the pain lasts anywhere from a minute to five minutes. The hernia is located on my right side of my incision (open RNY 11/14/02) down near my belly button. Thats why Im confused, since the hernia is down, and the pain is up under my ribs. I have an appointment with the surgeon for Feb. Any input would be greatly appreciated... Thank you in advance Amy
