Does sudden weight loss affect your monthly cycle?

I'm 5 weeks post op and have lost 40 lbs. I should have started my monthly cycle 2 weeks ago and haven't. Had the ususal pms, cramps, etc. at the time my cycle should have started, but nothing. Has anyone else experienced this? Just wondering....Thanks.
