After surgery I had a lot of numbness in hands and a patch on my thigh

After surgery, I woke up with two numb hands an a numb patch the size of a dinnerplate on my left thigh. The right hand came back right away, and the left hand took almost two months. I am almost 6 months post op now, and the place on my thigh is still numb. The doctor originally thought it was because I was on the skinny little surgical table for 5 hours and some nerves got pinched. But now I'm concerned that the thigh won't heal at all. Doctors don't seem to be too concerned...should I?
