please tell me about the success or failure of the lap band procedure

I am considering surgery and have a number of factors to evaluate. Firstly, I am self pay and do not have endless dollars. Secondly, I have never had surgery and am a little anxious. The lap band appeals to me due to cost efficiency, however, I do not want to pay for surgery and later be disappointed that it will not help me accomplish my goals. Can I hear from some of you who have also had to make this decision. Thanks-Emily H.
