Glucophage makes me sick, Actos makes me gain weight..what to do??

I am 17 months post RNY and have lost about 130 pounds. Pre-surgery I was taking glucophage xr and throwing up all the time. Recently my PCP said he felt I needed to be taking something to address my insulin resistance and put me on Actos. It hasn't made me sick (thank goodness!) but I have gained almost 5 pounds in 3 weeks and that is freaking me out. I am so afraid of messing up what has been such a lifesaver for me. Does anyone else here have experience with Actos? Is there something else that I can take? Help!
