After having a bypass with or without a D swithch will the med still be absorbed ?

I have been on Effexor for 6 years and have been taking meds for chronic depression for 15 yrs (well before obesity)My biggest fear is the medication will not be able to be absorbed or will no longer work after surgery. I so want to begin to live again but fear depression more than anything!
