Did any of the Diabetics here have trouble healing or getting infections?

I am a chronic diabetic for 21 years. I have had trouble healing in the past. That is something I worry about as I am sure you all have at one time. I am an amputee and have had to take a lot of antibiotics to heal my leg. Should I worry about the surgery site?
