Need some help concerning

Well, here I am 31 years old...And asking a question about menstral "stuff"- Because I was/am overweight. I would never get my period (maybe once a year) Now- I'm like clockwork- Every month. I have a question (I should have known the answer to years ago if I got my period) I understand- there is a time of the month that women gain a few pounds. Is it right before ? during ? or after ? If you are "holding water" When do you lose it ? :) Thanks for any input. Cheers Kim
