Is extreme itching caused by a vitamin defiency

For the past few months I have experienced itching,mostly by back and thighs, I thought I was winter itch but not it's started on my face and it's very annoying could this be caused by a vitamin defiency? Iam 16 mos post op. I haven't taken protein supps in quite a while could this be the culprit? Help Please.....
