what pain med will the dr give me since I am allergic to codiene, postop?

and also I just found out that my surgeon stopped using the morphine pump, he is using a little pain box thingy, does anyone have any clue as to what this is? he said he is trying to get away from all the narcotics after surgery. Thanks, Amy Stockle
