I.V. in neck and Dr Walters in San Antonio

My husband told me today that a wife of a coworker who had wls had an iv in her neck. That is freaking me out more than the surgery. (I have never had any surgery before and the few times i was in the hospital for other reasons, I did not have a good expierience with the nurse putting in an I.V.in my arm, much less my NECK!) What is that and will it hurt? Also I am desperatly trying to find someone who had or is going to have a VBG with Dr Walters in San Antonio who is willing to e-mail or call me and share wisdom, advice, helpful hints, etc.
