My breast bone (called Xyfoid Process) is now sticking out

I has been a year since my sugery and I have lost 170 pounds. My Xyfoid Process bone which is between and below my breasts is sticking out two inches and looks awful when I lay down. My Dr. says I can go to the hospital overnight and have it cut off. Has this happened to anyone else? I didn't have this problem before the surgery.
